Visitors with mobility issues

We seek to welcome visitors with different mobility issues. Our volunteers are there to advise and help where they can. There are a few steps in the front garden by the ponds which some with walking difficulties may be able to manage. If not they can use the entrance mentioned below. If you find particular areas difficult but think there are ways things could be improved, please do let us know. We want to ensure wherever possible we make it more accessible for people.

Visitors in wheelchairs:

THE GARDENS: After purchasing a ticket at the Entrance Kiosk, wheelchair access to the gardens is via the wooden gate at the far end of the Car Park. As an old property the paths and gardens areas can be uneven and care is needed.

THE HOUSE: It is possible with a small ramp to enter and exit the ground floor of the house. Note there are stairs to other areas.

THE TEA ROOM: Wheelchair access is possible via the rear conservatory entrance. There is a toilet for wheelchair users here (note this is a separate part of the women’s toilet. You can download St. Mary’s House & Gardens Access Statement (Acrobat PDF format).
